Design Studios that i like " 2. Abjad design "

Abjad design is a small local design studio based in Dubai , the founders are two girls from different countries . there work are amazing . I like the way they use the arabic typography to create different designs with it .
ivisited there website , it was amazing , i like the way they represented themselves , first they explain the meaning of the word abjad , because its an arabic word . Then they wrote a short story about how did they open the studio , that was a creative idea . the story was simple and at the end of the story they explained about the design studio and what they do .
the last two paragraphs talks about the two founders , each paragraph talked about one of them .
In general the about us page was simple , not too much information . i really liked the story part .

Design Studios that i like " 1. pentagram "

Pentagram is one of the largest design consultancy in the world . There work is so powerful , you can see is everywhere . They work in many fields such as  architecture, interiors, products, identities, publications, posters, books, exhibitions, websites, and digital installations.  There offices  in London, New York, San Francisco, Berlin and Austin.
I visited there website and i liked the way they simplify everything . First they mentioned that they are the largest independent design consultancy and they are 19 partner , they work as a group of friends .  they also mentioned the countries they have offices in and the fields they work in . and the last paragraph was about the process of their work , that each client will work direct with one of the designers .

I liked how they explain their design studio and how they mentioned that they are a group of friends , I liked there direct , simple explanation .

Reza Abedini

For me , Graphic design is totally art ..
                                               -Reza Abedini

Reza Abedini " Graphic Design is a kind of Phoenix .."

Reza Abedini ..

He is an iranian graphic designer . Studied at the school of fine arts .  his studio is in tahran . And he also teaches in tahran university .
Although i don't understand pharsi , I admire reza's art work . His posters explain it self . His typography posters are my favorite , i love the way he put the image " illustration" together with the type.
As you can see reza's art reflect the iranian culture and history . Its interesting how he represent the history in a modern way through the typography posters he designs .

Through my reading about his work , i red that he uses old poems in his posters . He is emerging two arts in one piece , the drawing with the poem . He once said that the poems he reads inspires him to do those drawings . That what really amaze me about him .

I also like the way he explains what happening around him in his country in his posters without saying a word .

Saul Bass

I want everything we do to be beautiful. I don’t give a damn whether the client understands that that’s worth anything, or that the client thinks it’s worth anything, or whether it is worth anything. It’s worth it to me. It’s the way I want to live my life. I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares

Saul Bass " Design is thinking made visual "

Saul Bass ..

An american graphic designer , born in may 8 , 1920 in New York city. Studied at the Art Students League in Manhattan. He moved to Los Angeles in his mid twenties to pursue his career in graphic design .

Saul Bass is one of the designers that his work inspires me a lot , i like the simplicity in his print design and the ideas in his motion graphics . the poster of the man with golden arm and the title sequence is my favorite . Its simple and deliver the massage to the audience is a  simple smart way .

In general his designs is really amazing both the print designs and the movie animations . He is not only a graphic designer , he is also a film maker .

His most famous logos are AT&T , Continental Airlines and Jet-stream . And for the movie animations the most famous one is for the movie "vertigo" the color he chosen for the movie titles was really strong . He used black , red and white .

His movie titles were different than other designers at that time . His movie titles gives you a little introduction about the movie in a simple way , it really attract the audience and make them more interested to watch the movie ..

Still Waves of probability

Still Waves of probability :
By Mira Schendel .
Actually I liked all the pieces of art that we saw in the exhibition. Her work was amazing. I can’t believe that she designed all of this in this period of time, for me it looks so modern.  The painting, typography, journals and all the pieces we saw was inspiring .
I liked this piece of art the most . this piece was made for the 1969n Venice Biennale .
What I liked about it is the effect that the threads gives you , its like your seeing something through them but its not clear , something blurry . Something visible and invisible at the same time . I liked the way she explained the script from the first book of the kings into this and how did she symbolized it.

The Oil Room

The oil Room :
The oil Room or the “ 20:50 “ was designed by Richard Wilson in 1987 , and was displayed in Saachi  Museum in 1991 . This room was custom built  for this design .  The name of the design is “ 20:50 “ and it is the name of the recycled engine oil used .
I really liked this room because it was way different than the other designs and pieces of art we saw . for me it meant something , not only a room full of a black liquid . this room reminded me of my home , my country and the development that happened after the oil was discovered .
Oil is everything for us. Our economy depends on this black liquid and as we call it the black gold.  The idea of keeping the oil in the basement in a closed room made me realized the importance of the oil  , its like keeping something valuable in a safe .
I really liked the reflection of the ceiling and the windows on the oil and the contrast between the white and the black with the light from the window , it is an amazing idea .
